Community
Coordination Network (CCN) is a not for profit organisation working
for the cause of tribal Empowerment. The indigenous people (tribals)
living in the interior villages lying on the borders of Andhra
Pradesh and Orissa states in India and are among the most primitive
tribes and poorest. CCN is involved in organising the community,
creating awareness and educating them to build their knowledge and
skills to improve their livelihoods and living conditions. CCN has a
team 54 committed individuals working towards the cause of Tribal
Empowerment. Under the able leadership of Sri. Lakhi Deuri, the
Organisation is implementing various development programs spread
over 726 remote habitations with an outreach of about 100,000
populations. The key achievements include:

Trained and built a cadre
of 700 educated tribal youth to work as local volunteers and involve
in the development of their own community through promoting the
Community Coordination Teams in different clusters of villages. The
community organisations include women groups, village level
committees, cooperatives, and Village Tribal Development Associations.
Through intensive community mobilization in 726 habitations, these
groups have been trained to manage their own affairs with the support
of the community coordination teams.

Facilitated education of
6000 tribal children by establishing community managed schools and
enhanced performance of 17 government schools, through community
involvement and monitoring.

Achieved 70% immunization
in the project villages. Improved access to primary health care and
coordinated referral services for 300 patients in the last 5 years
through establishing local health teams.

Promoted regeneration of
forests in an area of 330 hectares of forestland in 80 villages, by
involving the local communities through an initiative called DONGAR
SONA BANCHAU means save the hills that yield gold.
